My daughter has never played lacrosse and wants to give it a try. How do i start?
All youth players (K-8) are welcome to try Plano Girls Lax at any time! Before the season begins we hold free clinics where new players can come try lacrosse with no commitment. If you are looking to play and the season has already started, your child may try a practice before making a commitment. Please email our Youth director at youthlax@planogirlslax.com if you are interested in attending a practice.
Our high school Varsity team is required to submit its roster to the league by the end of January, so new players are welcome up to that time. If you are interested in joining our high school team, please contact our program director at programdirector@planogirlslax.com for more information.
Are there tryouts for your teams?
Not at this time. All players are welcome!
How do i register for a team?
Go to our website planogirlslax.com and click on the box that says “REGISTER NOW”, Your player will need a USA Lacrosse membership in order to register for our team. You cannot complete registration without a valid membership number. Go to usalacrosse.com to get or renew a membership. (USA Lacrosse membership lasts for 1 year and is required for insurance purposes.)
my daughter plays another sport. can she play lacrosse?
Absolutely! At PGL we see the benefit of being a multisport athlete. We will work with her schedule to provide the best possible instruction for growth and development. Most of our varsity members play another varsity sport including Volleyball, Basketball, Soccer, & Cross Country.
what equipment do i need for youth lax?
Girls stick, mouth guard (that is not clear or white and sits completely in the mouth), lacrosse goggles, practice pinnie, cleats and sneakers.
what equipment do i need for high school varsity lax?
Girls stick, mouth guard (that is not clear or white and sits completely in the mouth), lacrosse goggles, practice pinnie, cleats and sneakers.
how do i purchase the practice pinnie and/or team uniform?
Families will be contacted after registering with details about how to purchase these items. Members of all teams need a practice pinnie which is to be worn to all practices. Youth uniform will consist of practice pinnie and black shorts. High school Varsity team has a full uniform with 2 tops and 2 skirts.
Where can i purchase lacrosse equipment?
There are many places to buy lacrosse equipment both in person and online. Team Lax in Frisco, Monkey Sports, Dick’s Sporting Goods, lacrosseunlimited.com, etc.
when does the lacrosse season start & End?
Youth Fall season: starts at the end of August and ends at the beginning of November
Youth Spring season: starts in mid February and ends at the beginning of May
High School Varsity: starts in early September and ends at the beginning of May
when do pgl teams play games?
In the fall we may play in local tournaments, which are included in your dues. We may also play in small scrimmages. Spring is the primary season for lacrosse. In the spring youth will play games on the weekends and typically an end of season tournament. High school Varsity games may be on weekdays or weekend days depending on scheduling and field/referee availability.
where are games & tournaments played?
Games and tournaments are played at various locations around North Texas such as Plano, McKinney, Frisco, Allen, Coppell, Keller, Prosper, etc. The high school Varsity team may occasionally play a tournament or games outside the North Texas area such as the Aggieland Classic or State playoff games.
can i voluteer to help coach a youth team?
Yes! We are always looking for parent volunteers. We will help parents through the process of getting their coaching membership, background check and level 1 coaching certification from USA Lacrosse. Please contact our Program Director at programdirector@planogirlslax.com for more information.
how can i help support the program?
The best ways to support our program are: to promote our program to friends & family, to participate in our fundraising efforts, and to volunteer to help our club. Volunteer opportunities are available on our website www.planogirlslax.com
